Anna Estarriola_Muffled_ 2019 _detail_GA8983.jpg

Her work reflects on the perception and categorization of reality and on structures of communication and patterns of behavior of organisms and environments.

Anna works with sculpture, sound, moving image, bodies and electronics to create sculptural media installations and performances. These speculate about the certainties and the unknown as well as about the shifting definitions of truth, and our affiliations to it all. She approaches each of the mediums involved through the lens of the performative. She stages objects, images, scenes or sequences for the viewer to confront or to enter, fostering the illusion of enactment, existence and presence in the inanimate.

Her work filters and recreates phenomena and circumstances. Drawing from social and natural sciences as well as systems of belief, she considers the properties of materiality, the modes of coexistence and the cycles of appearance and disappearance.
