Transition - assisted breathing
Transition - assisted breathing (2019) installation / casted stone powder, medical ventilator unit, pedestal, chroma key blue paint / 124 x 60 x 60 cm
About / A medical ventilator unit* pumps air to a figure. The half-casted, half-sculpted bust lets the cold air out through its open mouth. As if reviving the matter, the artificial ventilation simulates the living breaths of the represented subject. The surrounding walls, painted chroma key blue, allude to the mutability of the background and to the possibility of each viewer producing their own context for the piece. (*) Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, the ventilator unit used in the piece has been temporary repurposed for medical use.
